Future Forestry Workers Career Day (Private Event)

6th Annual Future Forestry Workers Career Day Event

The Oregon Logging Conference Foundation (OLCF) will host High School students throughout Oregon and southwest Washington at the 6th Annual Future Forestry Workers Career Day, taking place February 23, 2024, in conjunction with the Oregon Logging Conference (OLC).  Students will be able to learn first hand about current career opportunities

Participating students will be able to get up close with state of the art and technologically advanced logging and forestry equipment on display at the OLC, which is held at the Lane Events Center and Fairgrounds in Eugene. Both self-guided and guided tours will be available for those who sign up.

The Career Day itself will be held in Livestock Arena at the Fairgrounds and will include one session of presentations, beginning at 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students will learn about forestry, reforestation, logging, trucking, diesel mechanics, operating heavy equipment, and firefighting, and can talk with industry professionals about current job opportunities.  This is a private event, contact the Oregon Logging Conference Foundation at (541) 686-9191.

On Friday, February, Warrenton Fiber / Nygaard Logging will sponsor the High School Skills Competition, providing an opportunity for the next generation of loggers to show off their stuff and compete head to head.

High school students from across the state will be competing in a variety of forestry events, including:

  • Choker Setting
  • Cable / Line Splicing
  • Crosscut
  • Power Buck

Events like these help students learn forestry skills as well as stay connected to school.
