Yep. it’s been a while since I posted in this blog…and now, there is so much to talk about, as the 79th Annual Oregon Logging Conference is rapidly approaching. There is so much that I look forward to every year and I want to touch on just a few of what is coming up. Come back here tomorrow and I will be talking about other activities at OLC that you wont want to miss.
Let me start by reminding everyone of this year’s theme “Growing the Future Today.” This year’s OLC President Jeff Wimer said, “Over the next several years we will see changes to some of the traditional ways in which we have logged. Like technology,” he added, “it will take many years to fully develop a safe and productive system (and) in may ways the work we do today provides for the future of our industry.”
If you’re planning to attend OLC to see the equipment, you wont be disappointed. There are more than 400 exhibitors both inside and outside at the Lane Event Center and Fairgrounds. Company representatives will be eager to give you all the information about the latest technology as well as the many gadgets and gizmos. For a complete list of exhibitors, check out the OLC website (www.oregonloggingconference.com)
And speaking of equipment, we are looking for at least a few very good log loader operators. You could win cash prizes if you are one of the winner in the Log Loader Competition, taking place Friday and Saturday, February 24th and 25th. (To participate, the Company you work for must be registered for the OLC).
These are just a few of the fun opportunities at the upcoming OLC, February 23 – 25. You can always get more information on the OLC website, or by calling the OLC office at 541-686-9191. I hope to see you soon, at the 79th Annual OLC!
