Thirteen college students will receive scholarships to further their educational pursuits, from the Oregon Logging Conference Foundation. The recipients were announced recently at the Spring Board Meeting of the Oregon Logging Conference Foundation on May 21, 2016.
Eleven of the students will attend college in Oregon, and two in Idaho. Five have also received previous scholarships from the Oregon Logging Conference Foundation. Thirty-seven applications were received according to Rikki Wellman, Oregon Logging Conference Manager. “With several quality applications, it was a difficult decision for the selection committee to narrow it down to the top 13”, reported Rikki Wellman, Conference Manager.
The following scholarship recipients received $2,000:
- Seth Eades, attending Oregon State University and dual major of Forest Engineering and Civil Engineering
- Preston green, attending Oregon State University and studying Sustainable Forest Management
- Austin Grimes, attending Oregon State University and studying Forest Engineering
- Cole Hansen, attending Oregon State University and studying Political Science/Forest Engineering
- Alessandra Hossley, attending Oregon State University and studying Forest/Civil Engineering
- Kolton Marhr, attending Oregon State University and studying Forest Engineering/Civil Engineering
- Renee Pitts, attending University of Idaho and studying Forest Resources/Operations
- Trevor Sartnurak, attending Oregon State University and studying Forest Engineering/Civil Engineering
- Robin Wortman, attending Oregon State university and studying Forest Management/Forest Engineering
The Following scholarship recipients received $1,500:
- Bryson Bossley, attending Linn Benton Community College, studying Heavy Equipment/Diesel Technician
- Robert Clayton, attending Centralia Community College and studying Diesel technology
- Isaac Donaldson, attending Southwestern Oregon Community College and studying Welding
- Justin Wolfe, attending Linn Benton Community College and studying General Science/Forestry
The Oregon Logging Conference Foundation is a 501(c) 3 charitable foundation and the education arm of the Oregon Logging Conference (OLC). The OLC awarded its first college scholarship in 1968 and since then has given out over $500,000 in scholarships to deserving students.
