This fun and delicious event includes a light lunch and desserts donated by local restaurants and bakeries, along with wine, champagne, and non-alcoholic bev
erages. A silent auction and opportunity drawing will also take place.
The Wildland Firefighter Foundation is the charity that has been selected to benefit from the proceeds generated by the 19th Annual Desserts for Dreams luncheon.
Wildland Firefighter Foundation founder and Board President Vicki Minor will speak at the luncheon. Minor established the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, after the devastating fire season of 1994, and the loss of 14 firefighters at Storm King Mountain in the South Canyon fire in Colorado. This organization provides aid and resources to injured firefighters and their families.
Each of the 14 firefighters lost will be memorialized in the centerpieces on the tables at this luncheon. Family members of five of the firefighters lost in 1994, will also attend and speak at the Desserts for Dreams luncheon.
This organization was chosen because of a personal connection between it and OLC President Craig Olson and his wife Kristi. One of the firefighters who was lost in 1994 was a classmate of Craig Olson and another who was lost was a neighbor of Kristi’s parents.
A few of the local businesses who have donated salads, desserts, and other goodies for the luncheon are Ambrosia, Applebees, Black Wolf Supper Club, Cinnabon, Campbell House, Carlita’s Cantina, Chula’s Restaurant & Cantina, Cornucopia, Dizzy Dean Donuts, Elegant Elephant Baking Co., Graduate Eugene, Gordon’s Tavern, Hot Mama Wings, Jazzy Ladies Café, J & S, Bog Foot grill/JC BBQ, Market of Choice, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Olive Garden Restaurant, Red Robin, Sweet Life Patisserie, 6th Street Grill, The Point Restaurant, Valley River Inn Sweetwater, and Vintage Restaurant.
