2023 Oregon Logging Conference Keynote Speaker is Travis Joseph

OLC President Craig Olson is pleased to announce the selection of Travis Joseph as the keynote speaker at the 85th Annual Oregon Logging Conference, being held February 23, 24, and 25, 2023 at the Lane Events Center and Fairgrounds in Eugene Oregon.

Joseph will speak on the morning of Thursday, February 23rd, during the opening session of the OLC at the Wheeler Pavilion.

“Our theme this year is about more than just green trees,” OLC President Craig Olson said. “It is about community, recreation, and environment,” he added. “Travis and the American Forest Resource Council’s mission encompass all of these values,” Olson said.

Joseph said he is humbled and honored to be the keynote speaker at the 85th Annual OLC. “I was born and raised in Springfield-Eugene and have always been a huge fan of this premier event since I was a kid.” And he added, “I am excited to be able to share my story and perspective on forestry and environmental conflicts in Oregon, and how we can move forward as a national leader on natural resources management.”

As President and CEO of the American Forest Resource Council Joseph is in charge of the overall strategy of the organization, as well as communications and government relations. He was a senior legislative aide for an Oregon congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington D.C. for eight years. During that time, he served as a senior policy advisor on the House Natural Resources Committee and the Director of Northwest Policy for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

He returned to Oregon to pursue his passion for healthy public forestlands and creating economic opportunities in rural communities.

Joseph has a bachelor’s degree in history and international studies from the University of Oregon, and a master’s degree in environment and development from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
